Second Sunday of Advent

Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6).  On this second week of Advent, we focus on how Christ has brought peace with God to those who trust in Him.  We also see how Christ has broken down the dividing wall of hostility between people as different as Jew and Gentile, Greek and Barbarian, Democrat and Republican, Black and White, or rich and poor.

By nullifying the law as a means of salvation, Christ has leveled the ground for all people.  No one can say he is without sin, and no one can say he is any “better” than any other person in the church. What is more, Christ has created each one of us as a new person in himself.

“that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace”(Ephesians 2:15)

When Christians of different backgrounds begin to view each other this way, there is a unity that comes by the Holy Spirit, and those who do not know Christ begin to take notice.
